COFFEE, TACOS, CHURROS, & IMPORTED GOODS
Located in the heart of River North at the prominent corner of Clark & Kinzie St. and in the same building as DineAmic Group’s Italian concept Siena Tavern, comes Barrio as well as Barrio’s storefront concept, La Bodega. La Bodega's entrance is located on the Clark St. side of Barrio and specifically designed as the sole entryway for the storefront. Upon entering, patrons will notice the polished-rustic décor inspired by some classic markets in Mexico. Ornate mosaic floor tiles will be perfectly laid throughout with a small seating area facing the Clark Street windows; ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or breakfast taco. Handmaid wooden retail shelving will be used to organize additional offerings along the walls including wine, spirits, tobacco products, snack foods, and other daily items. Open 7 days a week, the storefront will be sure to satisfy your needs at any time of the day.
YOU’RE IN GOOD HANDS
Lucas Stoioff and David Rekhson, DineAmic Group owners, are excited to introduce Chicago to BomboBar’s sister walk-up dessert concept, La Bodega. After the Instagram-famous BomboBar took off in the West Loop, Stoioff and Rekhson knew there was a dessert concept in the River North area that was missing. The walk-up counter will provide patrons the choice between sweet and savory items. Morning commuters can purchase breakfast tacos with a cup of Limitless coffee, or a traditional Old Fashioned Churro with a Green Tea Latte. La Bodega will also cater to afternoon and late night cravings with fresh al pastor tacos as well as an assortment of specialty churros including recipes such as Nutella dipped churros, churros covered in fruity pebbles and even churro ice cream sundaes.
CELEBRITY CHEF KATSUJI TANABE
Son of a Japanese father and Mexican mother, Tanabe was born and raised in Mexico City, where he spent his formative years training alongside private chefs in the homes of the city’s elite; picking up recipes and techniques while sparking a lifelong passion for Mexican cooking along the way. Looking for a challenge and utilizing the skills he acquired along the way, Tanabe made the transition from Chef, to Business Owner/Chef with his Mexikosher taqueria concept - a kosher taqueria based in Beverly Hills. In the last four years, he has competed on “Top Chef Boston,” “Top Chef Mexico,” and most recently “Top Chef Charleston.” Tanabe also had a winning appearance on the Food Network’s “Chopped.” Tanabe’s original take on Mexican fare combined with his appreciation of Japanese-infused flavors proved him to be an undeniable choice for Barrio.
